IG Whispers 2011 Annual Secret Santa Christmas/Holiday Gift Exchange!
TOS for Member Participation in the 2011 Secret Santa Exchange:
Participants: The 2011 will only be accepting Registration Forms from ActiveIGW Members. Meaning, If you have been a registered Member, but have not participated/posted on any forum within the past 3 months, with a minimum of 6 posts, your Registration Form will not be accepted. Why you ask? In the past, an email went out to every IGW Member informing them of the SS Exchange. We had a few members, who NEVER participated on IGW, log on only to participate on the Exchange. No one knew who they were, and it was those non-participating members who I had to constantly contact to ask "when will your package be sent out?" or "when are you going to post a Thank-You?" etc., etc. No one wants to be randomly matched to someone who they have never known to interact on IGW. Because the email to all Registered IGW Members, will not be going out this year, hopefully the problems we have had in the past will be eliminated.
Shipping: In the past, I have been contacted, many times, by Senders wanting me to contact their Recipients, to make sure they received their package. To insure everyone's peace of mind, we now ask everyone to get a Tracking Number and also that a Signature be required for delivery. Members will be able to track their shipments online with their delivery service, and by requiring a delivery Signature, it will insure that a package will not be left at a door, or porch, and will not be stolen, as has happened in the past. Someone will have to sign for your package. If you send your package without a tracking number or required signature, and your package is left and then stolen, you will be required to send a new package to your Recipient. When a package is stolen, the delivery service can trace your package and prove it was delivered, but because no signature was required, they will leave it outside the front door ... once it is out of their hands, they are not responsible for it anymore.
Saying Thank-you: It almost seems silly to have to bring this up, but again, because of past experience, I must. In the past, we have always asked that EVERY Member who participates in the SS Exchange, to post a Thank-you to your Sender, in a timely manor (within a few days)....and to post pictures or a video of what you received...maybe with your IGs enjoying their goodies. Every Member who participates in the SS Exchange takes a lot of time and forethought in choosing their gifts, as well as their hard earned money. It really is more fun to give than to receive, and nothing gives the Members more pleasure than to receive a posted Thank-you on IGW from their recipient and to see their gifts displayed on the Forum for everyone to enjoy. Every year, I get PMs from Members who knew their packages had been received, but their Recipients never posted anything. I then had to contact that Recipient and ask and ask and ask to please post a Thank-You to their Sender. Last year, a lovely package was sent out by a Member, and the Recipient never posted anything. My emails were ignored. If a Member feels that they cannot say Thank-you in a timely manner, post pictures or a video, don't participate in the Exchange.
(I have kept every year's Registration Form, with notes....so I know who you are) If a Member participates in the SS Exchange and ignores this request...that Member will be excluded from future SS Exchanges.
Participation: If a Member sends in a Registration Form and doesn't follow through with their commitment to participate, that Member will be excluded from future SS Exchanges. So, please make sure you really want to do this before you send in your Registration Form.
All gifts are required to be sent by December 5, 2011 to insure they are received by the end of December. If anyone is shipping to or from a location outside the USA, the gift should ship earlier than December 5, 2011 to insure its delivery. PLEASE BE AWARE OF WHAT IS NOT ALLOWED THROUGH CUSTOMS IF YOU SHIP OUTSIDE THE U.S...Packages sent through private shippers (FedEx, UPS) will be opened and checked..even if no food items are enclosed in your package. If you ship through USPS or through an online Vendor, you should be ok.
***WE CAN'T STRESS ENOUGH THAT PACKAGES MUST BE SENT WITH A TRACKING NUMBER AND SIGNATURE REQUIRED FOR DELIVERY***
Every year, there is always a package that has been sent without a signature required, and that package has been lost. As the Sender, you do not know where your package will be left, if your Recipient is not home. If your package is left exposed on a front porch, or outside of a front door, unless your Recipient lives in a very rural area, it will be stolen. Unfortunately, the Holiday season can bring out the worst in people.
We will begin accepting entry information on October 1st and we will be closing the entry on October 31st, 2011. Once the registration period is up, each registered participant will be matched with an exchange partner and sent an e-mail or PM with the shopping & delivery information of your recipient by November 15th, 2010.
We know it might be hard, and we will leave it to your discretion, but please try to stay between a $25 - $35 total limit in your gift purchases. Don't be concerned if you are shipping to a home with multiple Iggies - they can share your gift. Of course, homemade gifts will be accepted since we have many talented Members! Senders...keep yourself a secret to your recipient, only letting then know who you are by putting a note/card in your gift box.

If for any reason, after sending in your Exchange Form, you are unable to participate, please contact Linda ASAP, via PM. This also applies to anything unforeseen that might happen, which would delay your gift from arriving on time to the Recipient.
Remember, the exchange works as every person sending a gift receives one as well. We depend on each of you to be sure this runs smoothly... Just remember, if you agree to participate in the Exchange, and you don't follow through in posting thanks and photos or sending your gift, the circumstances will be considered and it is likley that you would not be able to participate in future holiday exchanges.
* We have set up a Special Christmas Exchange Forum for everyone to show off their gifts and to thank their Secret Santa. Enjoy, and have fun shopping!!! |
